Role Summary

Rare Disease Account Specialist in Birmingham, AL. Expert on territory practices, delivery networks, and patient populations. Call on healthcare providers for a first-in-class treatment for rare CAH disease, position Neurocrine as a leader in the Endocrine space, and maximize sales within the territory. Provide education and approved support from diagnosis through rare disease management, and build collaborative relationships with COEs, academic institutions, health systems, physicians, and clinics. Deliver tailored brand messaging and clinical information to distinct user segments while upholding high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the implementation for a patient-centric model including physicians, staff, clinics, and hospitals
  • Develop and maintain strategic long-term relationships with COEs, Academic Teaching Institutions, key Health Systems, and relevant IDNs
  • Serve as the authority on tools and resources Neurocrine offers to support physicians, pharmacists, and other health care providers in advocating for Rare Disease patients
  • Create, maintain and execute strategic business and account plans reflecting brand plan and local market conditions
  • Master targeted disease states with deep understanding of patient journeys, standards of care and treatment drivers
  • Leverage clinical and scientific knowledge to execute local disease education and promotional programs
  • Provide high level product expertise and customer service to all targeted accounts and stakeholders
  • Expand expertise of treating/referring physicians, payers, hospital systems, pharmacies, labs, and other care-continuum components; monitor stakeholder dynamics affecting patient treatment decisions
  • Navigate complex hospital settings to access targeted HCPs and stakeholders
  • Maintain payer relationships to inform on coverage and reimbursement; collaborate with payer access team to maximize patient access
  • Foster relationships with patient advocacy groups to support patient education and disease-awareness activities
  • Engage with providers managing rare CAH patients and provide high-level clinical education
  • Assist with steps to provide access to therapies, including testing procedures, site-of-care determination, and reimbursement education
  • Provide educational support to underserved patient communities
  • Collaborate with patient advocacy to support patient and rare disease community
  • Exhibit outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; networking, problem solving, negotiation, relationship-building
  • Stay updated on industry and market trends; provide feedback during launch
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree and 8+ years of sales experience in biotech/pharmaceutical sales, including 5+ years calling on prescribers of specialized, high-value products; proven launch experience; experience with Salesforce.com, Oracle, SAP, Business Objects, COGNOS, QlikView, Veeva, etc. OR
  • Master's degree preferred with 6+ years of relevant experience OR
  • PhD with 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Track record of sales success with quantifiable accomplishments
  • Experience in rare diseases preferred
  • Prior experience calling on Key Accounts, COEs, and academic institutions
  • Start-up or market development experience desirable
  • Endocrine experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with products in specialty pharmacy distribution/Hub Model
  • Ability to plan, analyze and interpret sales data to identify opportunities
  • Proficiency with Sales Force Automation and basic business software
  • Strong organization, multitasking, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Passion for Patient and Caregiver Programs
  • Understanding of healthcare regulatory and enforcement environments
  • Ability to work independently and identify/hire an exceptional sales team
  • Frequent driving required; valid driver's license and clean driving record
