Description Overview
The Production Engineering role provides technical expertise and solutions to support operations in the Allegan, MI manufacturing plant, investigating and resolving problems impacting plant safety, quality, and efficiency.

Scope of the Role
Day-to-Day Operations
- Review the previous 24 hours of production data on designated work centers; address urgent business needs.
- Examples: general troubleshooting, contacting vendors, Gemba support.
- Track line efficiency (Pareto charts, DT, and work center-based data tracking software).
- Monitor and follow up on changes to ensure impact and ROI.

Lean Six Sigma (Zero Loss Mentality + Work System Focus)
- Coordinate and lead continuous improvement projects for waste reduction and efficiency.
- Align with cross-functional partners on prioritizing projects.
- Work independently and in teams to develop and implement solutions.
- Use DMAIC problem-solving approach.

Subject Matter Expert (SME)
- Act as a technical expert in the latest packaging equipment and associated technology.
- Provide training to operations and support groups.
- Apply core engineering principles to solve complex technical problems.
- Support operations in meeting applicable laws/regulations and Corporate/Site Quality requirements.

Capital Projects (Cradle to grave asset support)
- Generate data to prepare project scopes, cost estimates, economic justifications, and capital appropriation requests.
- Support equipment installations and process improvements for packaging operations.
- Support URS, FAT, IQ, OQ, PQ, and successful vertical start-up.
- As a project manager, direct allied support groups while interfacing with departments, consultants, and contractors.

Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Engineering Management preferred).
- Strong fundamentals of equipment operation and standard engineering principles/techniques.
- Ability to read drawings, flowcharts, and schematics for system design documentation.
- Demonstrated lean and six sigma knowledge; experience with continuous improvement techniques.
- Ability to perform sound economic analyses.
- Initiative in identifying projects and meeting deadlines in a team environment.
- Quality systems experience in an FDA current GMP regulated environment preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of production operations and associated control systems preferred.
