Process Engineer 2 (On-site in Irvine, CA)
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering assignments to apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria across related engineering tasks.
- Work on problems with clear objectives and a limited number of variables; apply moderate judgment on details and selection/adaptation of engineering alternatives.
- Write or update work instructions, part specifications, validation protocols, test reports, routine reports/correspondence, and other technical documents.
- Support equipment design incorporating mechanical, electrical, or controls engineering concepts with cross-functional team assistance.
- Contribute to one or more of: equipment design/development using SolidWorks, materials testing, preparing specifications, process studies, research investigations, report preparation, and other limited-scope technical activities.
- Ensure personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) regulations/policies/procedures.
- Purchase or design equipment that meets company HSE standards.
- Perform design reviews and pre-validation assessments for safe, environmentally sound start-up of new processes.
- Practice and ensure conformance with company safety and quality policies/procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering/related field with 2–4 years of related experience/training; or MS; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Experience with 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks).
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from managers, peers, and customers.
- Technical knowledge of equipment/facilities maintenance systems, calibration standards, tooling processes, and documentation control in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with PC software (Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365).
- Ability to lead at least one major project.
- Knowledge of project management principles, methods, tools, and techniques.
- Understanding of theoretical/practical fundamentals and applicable experimental engineering techniques.
- Ability to complete manufacturing techniques training.
- Ability to learn regulatory GMP requirements.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Excellent English reading, writing, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Knowledge of PLC, HMI, and other process control equipment.
- Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools/methodology.
- Experience with embedded systems or microcontrollers.
- Experience in medical device or automotive/aerospace industry.
Additional Job Information:
- Located in Irvine, CA; may require up to 10% domestic travel.
- Weekend, overtime and/or off-site work may be required.
- Clean room work requiring special garments; exposure to fumes/airborne particles/toxic or caustic chemicals/electrical shock risk; may work near moving parts; noise may be loud.
Base pay range: $76,000.00 - $121,900.00
