Role Summary
Principal, Sanofi Ventures — Cambridge, MA. Lead investment analysis, due diligence, and portfolio support within Sanofi Ventures, with potential to lead deals and board observer/director seats as the role grows.
Responsibilities
- Provide detailed analytical and due diligence support on new investment opportunities.
- Work with technical and business teams to evaluate investment opportunities; solicit input from senior investment professionals, R&D, advisors, and others regarding prioritization and selection of candidates.
- Lead due diligence processes, including calls with internal and external experts; perform market analysis and build therapeutic market and financial models; support and ultimately lead deal negotiations with management teams.
- Track, triage, and maintain new and active deal opportunities in the deal database; prioritize deals of most significant interest.
- Maintain oversight and support management of existing portfolio companies by taking board observer (and ultimately full director) seats when appropriate; support analysis and provide recommendations for selling of public company positions.
- Actively participate in SV activities and represent SV in internal and external settings; prepare presentations and reports for quarterly investment meetings; contribute to Investment Committee materials and present deal recommendations; represent SV externally on panels and speaking engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required (Masters/MD/PhD preferred; MBA considered for those without industry experience).
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant Life-Sciences industry experience, with a preference for at least 4 years at a venture capital firm with direct investment analysis and due diligence experience.
- Experience could also include top-tier investment bank, healthcare-focused consulting, or a biopharma company in R&D or Business Development functions.
- Preferred: Excellent communication skills; team player with hands-on attitude; entrepreneurial and self-starter spirit; ability to build trust with management of invested companies; robust technical and organizational skills; high ethics and integrity.
