Essential Functions
- Lead strategic, comprehensive territory planning by identifying/cultivating community, academic, and opinion-leader relationships; executing high-quality two-way scientific exchange; mentoring peers; and sharing insights to guide TA strategy.
- Develop, maintain, and execute field strategic plans; identify resource gaps; introduce innovative ideas/programs to support leadership priorities.
- Serve as field lead for pre- and post-launch activities; analyze competitor data, clinical evidence, and scientific positioning to differentiate and influence therapeutic area strategy.
- Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries from HCPs, investigators, healthcare systems, and academic centers using clinical data, real-world evidence, and scientific insights for practical, audience-appropriate communications.
Research & Evidence Generation Leadership
- Identify, develop, and execute high-level research support for company- and investigator-initiated initiatives; facilitate research communication; engage investigators; support investigator-initiated studies without assuming sponsor responsibilities.
- Anticipate shifts in competitive/scientific environment and implications for evidence generation and positioning.
Scientific Acumen & Thought Leadership
- Lead journal club dialogue; share scientific updates.
- Lead external scientific engagements (conferences, advisory boards, investigator meetings, approved speaking opportunities).
- Listen/document/synthesize and share medical insights; drive development of scientific materials/frameworks.
Department Operations & Internal Collaboration
- Partner with Field Director to translate national medical strategy into KOL/territory plans; support execution.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and comply with Medical Affairs SOPs and healthcare/compliance requirements.
- Use AI tools to enhance decision-making and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Doctorate level degree or equivalent experience (PharmD, PhD, MD, etc.); post-graduate experience required for doctoral candidates; preference for therapeutic clinical experience; residency/fellowship preferred.
- 6+ years of relevant MSL experience.
- Travel up to 70% (overnights; some weekend commitments).
- Data gathering/analysis, clinical expertise, problem solving, interpersonal influence, cross-functional collaboration, strategic thinking, competitive landscape analysis.
- Must reside in defined territory; valid U.S. driverβs license.
Preferred
- Therapeutic area knowledge/experience.
- Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CoPilot; computers and remote technologies.
- Related clinical/research/pharma work experience.
