Role Summary
The Principal Enterprise Architect is a hands-on role that bridges the corporate strategy/roadmap with architectural design solutions, collaborating with other architects to deliver a secure, scalable, highly reliable and highly available network. This position requires a skilled, proactive architect who is passionate about solving technical challenges and improving internal processes to streamline the network teamβs operations in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Responsibilities
- Ability to demonstrate expert-level knowledge in two of the following areas: datacenter and campus network architecture planning and design; leveraging network automation to streamline processes; and deployment of network solutions in the cloud (AWS, Azure and GCP).
- Develop and maintain technology roadmaps and participate in strategic planning in an architect role.
- Provide direction to operational support teams for on-prem and cloud network strategies.
- Lead the architecture in redesigning and modernizing the network architecture, championing best practices across cloud, on-prem and edge deployments.
- Lead architects collaborating with internal and external teams to mature and align the architecture to fit departmental and organizational goals and enterprise architecture standards.
- Hands-on expertise with routers, switches, load balancers, firewalls, wired and wireless infrastructure on-prem and cloud-native solutions.
- Assist in defining processes and procedures to manage network security.
- Provide technical support and consultation for changes to network configurations and related processes following change management procedures.
- Communicate complex technical information to team members and multiple levels of management.
- Ensure the system design balances functional performance, service quality, and systems management requirements.
- Participate in and contribute to solutions outlining risk, cost, benefits, and resource planning for projects and initiatives.
- Mentor other architects and engineers within the team.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field and/or combination of education and experience.
- Required: Minimum of 5+ years of lead network engineer or architecture experience.
- Required: Minimum of 10+ years network engineer experience.
- Required: Experience in multiple networking and security platforms including but not limited to Cisco Routers/Switches, Juniper Routers/Switches, Palo Alto Firewalls, Cisco ASA, Juniper and Cisco Wireless environments.
- Required: In-depth knowledge of Palo Alto and Cloud Native firewalls.
- Required: Strong understanding of wireless, VOIP, QoS, network segmentation and security technologies including but not limited to firewalls.
- Required: Ability to adapt, work in a fast-paced environment and champion change.
- Required: Experience managing cloud/hybrid infrastructures.
- Required: Experience implementing HIPAA, PCI and PII regulated best practices.
- Required: Excellent organizational, project management and troubleshooting skills with attention to detail.
- Required: Strong ability to mentor, coach, and train engineers.
- Preferred: Experience with Service Now preferred or similar ticketing system.
- Preferred: Experience working in a healthcare organization.
- Preferred: Cisco CCIE, CCNP, CEA and Palo PCNSA certified professional.
- Preferred: Experience working in Agile Framework.
- Preferred: Ability to work with teams that are geographically distributed and work across different time zones.
