Area Business Specialist (ABS)
Responsibilities
- Achieve territory product sales goals and activity goals by executing company performance expectations, metrics, and customer engagement objectives.
- Develop and execute a territory business plan using internal data/analytics, market research, and customer insights.
- Build credibility with HCPs to create urgency for identification, diagnosis, and treatment of underserved rare disease patients; drive timely therapy initiation and adherence in compliance with company policy.
- Use account-based selling by engaging appropriate practice stakeholders (physicians, nurses, medical assistants, office staff, referral coordinators, prior authorization personnel) to drive patient pull-through from diagnosis to treatment initiation.
- Leverage field analytics, account data, marketing campaigns, speaker programs, peer-to-peer education, disease-state materials, and patient-finding resources to uncover opportunities and improve engagement.
- Collaborate with PAMs and internal teams (Regional Business Directors; Marketing, Training, Market Access, Commercial Operations) and share best practices/market intelligence.
- Represent the organization ethically and professionally; maintain compliance with policies and healthcare regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelorโs degree (BA/BS) required; advanced degree preferred.
- 5+ years of life sciences sales experience required.
- 2+ years rare disease promotion preferred (or proven specialty pharmaceutical sales track record).
- Preferred: rare/ultra-rare disease, specialty pharmaceuticals, or neurology experience.
- Strong sales process knowledge, analytical skills, business acumen, written/verbal communication, problem-solving, decision-making, organization, multitasking.
- Valid U.S. state-issued driverโs license required.
Working Conditions
- Field-based; conduct business in assigned geography daily; periodic evening/weekend work and overnight travel; extensive overnight travel for larger geographies.
