The Position:
- Assumes responsibility for achieving sales goals by implementing marketing and sales strategies aimed at effectively selling and promoting Novo Nordisk’s portfolio of products to HCPs and other office staff.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates competencies with territory-level impact.
- Understands local payer market (Medicare, Commercial, Medicaid benefit designs; payer coverage; prescription requirements; step therapy; coverage gap; copays; deductibles) and impacts on customer decisions.
- Understands territory customer groups/affiliations (IPAs, medical groups, health systems, local clinics) to identify opportunities and tailor approach.
- Analyzes bidding policies/contracts to influence formulary status, as applicable.
- Analyzes managed care impact on prescribing decisions and modifies sales/promotion strategies.
- Develops/utilizes relationships with specialists, key hospital decision-makers, and others influencing purchasing/prescribing/formulary decisions.
- Researches and tailors account plans based on stakeholders and account practices.
- Develops and executes territory business plans using market conditions, competitive trends, priorities, and patient needs.
- Builds/maintains business-relevant relationships (prescribers, support staff, pharmacies, clinic administrators) by collaborating on clinical management and offering NNI-approved solutions.
- Demonstrates professionalism; actively listens; identifies/address customer and patient needs; keeps commitments.
- Collaborates across functions (e.g., market access, specialty sales) to share knowledge and opportunities.
- Implements the Novo Nordisk Edge Selling Model (pre-call planning, uncover needs, provide solutions/deliver core messages, resolve objections, gain commitment) and uses analytical tools to create territory plans.
- Coordinates with internal stakeholders (Pod team, PDBM, RBD, etc.) and defines roles/responsibilities.
- Exercises control over samples/company property; manages discretionary territory and promotional budgets.
- Demonstrates disease-state knowledge and understanding of treatment options (NNI and competitor products), including clinical studies.
Physical Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and good standing (per Novo Nordisk points threshold based on MVR).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or equivalent degree and/or PharmD required.
- Preferred: at least 1 year experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare, sales, consulting, customer service, or military.
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Word, Excel); prior sales data/call reporting software experience ideal.
- Self-starter; able to evaluate options and make decisions with minimal supervision.
- Aptitude for leadership and decision-making.
- Solid understanding of diabetes and obesity therapy areas; aptitude to learn and communicate technical/scientific information.
