Position Summary
The Pathology Operations Specialist I supports and assists the Pathology and Pathologist Assistant department in daily operations, including prioritizing, assigning, and distributing cases to pathologists. Acts as the point of contact between the Pathology/Pathologist Assistant department and other departments.

Job Responsibilities
- Work with other departments to prioritize cases through the pathology workflow.
- Assign and distribute cases to pathologists.
- Serve as point of contact for Pathology and Pathologist Assistant with other lab personnel.
- Use Laboratory Information Systems (LIS); log appropriate information into LIS and other required logs.
- Pull required cases or slides.
- Distribute material for Pathology Quality Assurance and record results.
- Assist with related duties and special projects for the department.
- Maintain a clean workstation.
- Accurately prioritize and triage specimens; handle and dispose of specimens and chemical waste per procedural manual; ensure regulatory compliance.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform and document Quality Control/Quality Assurance tests; maintain required documentation and logs.
- Report concerns about test quality and/or patient/employee safety.
- Maintain lab procedures and ensure compliance with applicable policies/procedures; recommend changes.
- Perform and document operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance of microdissection equipment.
- Communicate laboratory problems and non-conformities to supervisors/management.
- Promote a positive work environment through teamwork and collaboration.

Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in general laboratory operations.
- High degree of care and strict adherence to defined clinical testing protocols.

Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical qualifications in pathology.
- Ability to work in routine and stressful situations accurately and timely.
- Experience with microdissection technicians in a CLIA-certified environment.
- Knowledge of lab safety for biohazards/chemicals and quality control procedures/regulations.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic Internet use for business.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
