General/Position Summary
- Field-based role delivering flexible, high-impact coverage across the Pain Business Unit to address territory vacancies, leaves of absence, and priority business needs.
- Deployed dynamically across geographies to maintain business continuity, support priority accounts, and drive execution against commercial objectives; may assume PTAM or TBM responsibilities.
- When not covering vacancies, supports surge initiatives, account recovery, new hire onboarding, and other strategic priorities.
- Temporary territory deployments typically last ~10β12 weeks; employees live/work in the assigned territory during the week and return home regularly (typically weekly).
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Coverage & Deployment
- Provide immediate coverage for vacancies/LOAs and other priority needs.
- Deploy per AFL-led prioritization; step in quickly with limited ramp time.
- Own customer engagement, account execution, pull-through activities, and territory planning while deployed.
- Execute structured handoff/transition processes to ensure continuity.
- Support onboarding/ramp-up via territory knowledge transfer and field coaching.
Account Engagement
- Build/maintain relationships with healthcare professionals and institutional stakeholders.
- Assess new environments; identify stakeholders, opportunities, risks, and priorities.
- Adapt engagement strategies to territory/account needs.
- Transition customer ownership/account plans to permanent territory ownership.
Business Planning & Execution
- Rapidly assess territories/accounts; execute plans aligned to commercial objectives.
- Maintain business continuity; support recovery where disrupted.
- Use Veeva/approved systems to document activities and updates.
Collaboration & Training
- Partner with AFL/RFL and cross-functional teams (Commercial Ops, Training, Marketing, Market Access, Medical).
- Complete deployment-readiness training; stay current on product/disease state, compliance, access, and engagement expectations.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelorβs degree required (or equivalent education + relevant experience).
- Typically 7+ years pharmaceutical/biotech field sales experience.
- 3+ years account management; ability to leverage institutional relationships.
- Proven ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-changing environments with frequent transitions.
- Experience in community and institutional account engagement (adaptability across customer types preferred).
- Experience pulling through inpatient formularies, protocols, pathways, and order sets.
Required Skills
- Quickly assess markets and prioritize with limited transition time.
- High adaptability and learning agility.
- Manage multiple transitions while maintaining continuity.
- Strong collaboration in a matrixed, dynamically deployed field model.
- Proficient with CRM tools (e.g., Veeva).
Other Requirements
- Travel up to 80% and work after hours as needed.
- Establish required customer credentials (may include trainings, background screens, drug testing, vaccinations).
- Valid driverβs license in good standing.
Pay Range
- $133,600 - $200,400 (eligible for annual bonus and annual equity awards).
