Packaging Technology Specialist

Responsibilities:
- Lead development, qualification, and lifecycle management of primary packaging solutions for Medicines NPIs at External Manufacturing Sites.
- Provide technical leadership on pack design, component selection, functional testing, supplier assessment, and packaging validation; partner with R&D, Supply Chain, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and external manufacturers.
- Lead first-intent primary packaging development/intro for NPIs.
- Define and deliver primary/secondary/tertiary and distribution pack designs and packaging design briefs.
- Collaborate with suppliers on component/material selection, printing/conversion methods, cost and sustainability.
- Define/manage packaging functional testing (component interaction, child resistance, distribution performance, metrology) and review test data/specifications.
- Support Packaging Validation/Production with equipment selection, machine trials, process qualification, and control strategies.
- Assess/qualify packaging components and suppliers, and manage supplier change proposals.
- Qualify bulk packaging shipping lanes for NPIs and project transfers.
- Drive packaging improvements to reduce complexity, cost, and waste while maintaining quality/compliance.
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree; 5+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical packaging development, packaging equipment, or packaging operations across multiple dose forms.
- Preferred: Master’s/postgraduate Packaging Technology (pharma focus); experience with NPI projects and external site transfers; Lean/5S and electronic batch records/MES; child resistance regulatory knowledge; sterile packaging/sterility assurance concepts; packaging components/materials/conversion/printing/supplier knowledge; packaging design/testing and technical specification/drawing prep; QA/validation/regulatory & change control understanding; global matrix collaboration and strong technical communication.
Compensation/Benefits (US, if based in Cambridge/Waltham/Rockville/SF): Annual base salary $111,375–$185,625; annual bonus; share-based long-term incentive; health insurance, retirement, paid holidays/vacation, and paid caregiver/parental + medical leave.
