Packaging Operator (Oral Care) โ Kentwood, MI
Shift: 1st MondayโFriday; Saturday OT as needed. 8-hour shifts (6:40amโ2:40pm)
Responsibilities:
- Perform work at assigned station at/above production standards, including visual parts inspection and checking customer specifications under minimum supervision.
- Coordinate activities of a small group of operators.
- Understand job requirements and procedures for each assigned packaging workstation.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs); perform in-process inspections and record results per GDP guidelines.
- Visually inspect parts; separate items for rework or rejection; identify packaging defects (appearance, color, seal quality, print quality) and verify against product spec sheets, WIP documentation, production releases, and quality issues.
- Learn troubleshooting and minor machine repairs.
- Set up and operate machines; perform operator-specified preventive maintenance to sustain equipment efficiencies.
- Change materials, set up labels, make minor machine adjustments, assist with machine changeovers, retrieve materials; read work orders and picklists to ensure correct materials/specs.
- Coordinate crew activities and communicate with material handlers to maximize efficiencies.
- Enter data in the SAP system.
- Support effective implementation of GMP requirements.
- Follow instructions for RedZone utilization.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Ability to follow written and oral work instructions in English (safety, quality, GMP, GDP).
- 6 months of manufacturing experience.
- Working knowledge of computers (finding/reading procedures, using computer terminals).
- Basic math and reading comprehension skills.

- Frequently/consistently: stand; lift 20โ25 lbs.; stoop/bend, squat, reach, grasp, move items; use hands/fingers.
- Occasionally: sit, walk, pull/push, twist.
- Rarely: lift above shoulders/head, climb ladders/stairs, kneel, reach above shoulders/head.

- Frequently/consistently: exposure to loud noises/machinery.
