Role Summary

Opcenter Solutions Principal Engineer is a leadership role overseeing the Siemens Opcenter-based Manufacturing System Platform (MSP) program for MedTech. This remote, US-based position leads a multinational technical team responsible for software deployment, development and operations (DevOps) across global manufacturing sites. The role emphasizes team leadership, incident management, project delivery, and cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders. Experience with MES platforms (Siemens Opcenter preferred), GxP/CSV, and strong communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a global team of support and development engineers.
  • Lead the design process for the implementation of new solutions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts during critical downtime events and system escalations.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of incident tickets, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Lead response efforts for critical system outages and downtime events.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain system monitoring tools and dashboards.
  • Analyze system performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Lead squad engineers to build and maintain software, translating user stories from the backlog into a working solution, using modern design patterns and architectural principles.
  • Drive testing and deployment of Opcenter software solutions, including sufficient automated testing to ensure solution quality.
  • Work with other Lead Engineers and squad members to manage risks and solve, escalate, and track cross-squad dependencies and impediments.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals, challenging costs, and time estimates, and ensuring design and architecture fit.
  • Drive automation and standardization across support workflows.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders on system health and incident status and during the project delivery cycle.
  • Document and communicate lessons learned from major incidents and outages.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in solutions engineering, or IT operations in Supply Chain/Manufacturing Systems.
  • Experience with MES platforms, preferably Siemens Opcenter.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex technical issues under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in a matrixed environment and leading support teams is required.
  • Experience in GxP systems, Computer System Validation and support of FDA regulated systems is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and influencing skills including the ability to manage across all management and organizational levels.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
