Role Summary

This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in San Antonio, McAllen, Harlingen and the surrounding area. The Oncology Sales Specialist will handle delivering sales performance and promoting product(s) within the oncology, hematology or rare disease portfolio of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. You will leverage commercial insight, continuous learning, and digital tools to improve sales opportunities in competitive markets.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate cross functionally in each geography as ONE team to build and achieve shared goals, demonstrating influential leadership among peers and internal partners.
  • Demonstrate self-awareness, a passion for learning, and the ability to inspire others while embracing change to optimize execution.
  • Deliver messages clearly to customers, handle objections, and close calls with a commitment to action to drive behavior changes.
  • Understand territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, product, and clinical data; anticipate environmental changes to optimize execution.
  • Develop and execute a call plan to achieve goals and improve access and sales opportunities, promoting a technical and innovative product portfolio to a sophisticated audience.
  • Understand the local healthcare system landscape, EMRs, pathways, and PA-claims processing; develop and execute account-level plans.
  • Use sales data tools to identify trends and combine with customer insights to identify growth opportunities.
  • Leverage social media to capture customer insights and drive tactical execution and customer experience.
  • Move between non-digital and digital settings, using non-personal tools to deliver customized experiences.

Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree a plus.
  • Required: 2+ years’ experience in specialty pharmaceuticals, biotech, or a sales role of similar complexity within the last 5 years.
  • Required: Ability to collaborate cross-functionally in a matrix environment; strong communication of clinical product information; evidence of high performance; experience selling to large accounts and key segments.
  • Required: Self-starter with analytical abilities; ethical leadership and compliance with policies and laws.
  • Required: Residence within the territory or within 50 miles daily commuting distance; 60-80% travel across a broad geography; valid driver’s license.

Desirable

  • Experience across therapeutic groups, disease states, account management strategy, and new product launches.
  • Understanding of patient services, market access, buy and bill, specialty pharmacy, reimbursement, and medical calling on HCPs regarding reimbursement pathways.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus.

  • Driving is an essential function of this role; must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license.
