Role Summary

Oncology Medical Science Liaison/Sr Medical Science Liaison to join the team in New Orleans. Serves as the local medical voice in oncology, building a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes within the territory. Provides medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology products, new indications, and compounds in development. Territory includes Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi and Pensacola, FL.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet priority objectives and local patient needs
  • Develop strong working relationships in external settings such as academia, hospitals, managed markets, and private practices
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the MDT
  • Lead peer-to-peer scientific/medical interactions
  • Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment, barriers to optimal treatment, and opportunities to improve patient outcomes
  • Discuss data and educational gaps with KOLs to ensure adequate use of medicines and inform R&D strategy
  • Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant meetings and conferences
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trials from feasibility to execution

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree required (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written and spoken forms; ability to navigate a matrixed environment
  • 0-2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content with multiple audiences
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
  • Basic understanding of the healthcare system, trial methodology, statistics, and regulatory environment
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Ability to travel 40-60% domestically by car, train, and plane

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
  • MSL experience
  • Oncology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to impact Medical Affairs and MSL strategies on a regional level
