Role Summary

Oncology Medical Science Liaison/Sr Medical Science Liaison in Nashville. The role acts as the local medical voice in oncology, developing a tailored medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes within the territory, and providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology products, new indications, and development compounds.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet AZ USMA priorities and local patient needs
  • Develop strong working relationships in external settings (academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices)
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and MDT members
  • Lead peer-to-peer scientific/medical interactions
  • Gather insights on treatment landscape, healthcare environment, barriers to optimal treatment, and opportunities to improve outcomes
  • Discuss data and educational gaps with KOLs to inform R&D strategy and ensure appropriate use of medicines
  • Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant meetings and conferences
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trials from feasibility to execution

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Advanced scientific degree (Pharm D, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in writing and in conversations; ability to navigate within a matrixed environment
  • 0-2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss scientific content to multiple audiences
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
  • Basic understanding of healthcare system, trial methodology, statistics, and regulatory environment
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Ability to travel (40-60% domestically by car, train, and plane)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
  • MSL experience
  • Oncology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver customer-related outcomes in a targeted field/territory
  • Demonstrated ability to impact Medical Affairs and MSL strategies on a regional level
