Role Summary

Oncology Medical Science Liaison/Sr Medical Science Liaison - Detroit. Serve as the local medical voice in Oncology, building a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in the territory. Provide medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology products, new indications, and development compounds. Territory includes Michigan and Indiana.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet priorities in the disease area and local patient needs
  • Develop strong working relationships in external settings (academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices)
  • Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the MDT
  • Lead peer-to-peer scientific/medical interactions
  • Gather insights on treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment, barriers to optimal treatment, and opportunities to improve patient outcomes
  • Discuss data and educational gaps with KOLs to inform R&D strategy and ensure appropriate use of medicines
  • Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant meetings and conferences
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations on trials from feasibility to execution

Qualifications

  • Advanced scientific degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations, and small group dialogues; ability to navigate a matrix environment
  • 0-2+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content to multiple audiences
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
  • Basic understanding of the healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics, and regulatory environment
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Ability to travel 40-60% domestically by car, train, and plane

Education

  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
