Field Medical: Core Responsibilities
- Plan and execute Medical strategy and engagement for assigned customers within a territory, coordinating with other Pfizer colleagues to achieve Medical objectives.
- Maintain knowledge of relevant therapeutic area/disease states and Pfizer medicines; provide therapeutic area/product information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Serve as a conduit/resource for Medical Information and customer insights; provide requested information to HCPs as allowed and share customer viewpoints with Pfizer.
- Understand Pfizer Medical Affairs priorities to contribute to Medical content strategy development and execute aligned Field Medical tactics.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with HQ Medical colleagues, Medical Information, and other Field Medical colleagues.
- Deliver approved medical/scientific education via live/virtual presentations, written communications, and telephone/virtual conversations.
- Optimize patient centricity of Medical communications using Health Literacy and cultural awareness.
Field Medical: Additional Responsibilities
- Deliver approved medical content; identify/seek medical engagement from priority customer segments.
- Provide truthful, accurate, scientifically supported information for unsolicited medical requests from HCPs in compliance with Pfizer policies.
- Lead advisory boards (with vendor support if needed) with manager oversight.
- Field inbound HCP queries via established triage process.
- Support identification of potential Pfizer-sponsored clinical trial sites and under-represented populations; provide Medical support throughout ISR.
- Build research/disease state expertise (e.g., congress data, literature); provide asset leadership.
- Understand and communicate study design/methodology/data interpretation.
- Lead territory with ownership mindset; deliver actionable field insights; serve on cross-functional committees; represent Medical Affairs leadership with professional associations.
- Mentorship (onboarding partner, ad board and study lead mentor); participate in special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a health science (required).
- PharmD/PhD or equivalent terminal doctoral degree (highly preferred).
- Relevant experience: PharmD/PhD with 6 years; MBA/MSc with 8 years; BA/BSc with 10 years.
- Recognized subject matter expert; diverse leadership and influence.
- Excellent oral/written communication; strong interpersonal/conflict management.
- Ability to manage many remote projects with prioritization and judgment; continuous improvement mindset.
- Experience working in matrixed, multi-disciplinary teams; lead change and demonstrate change agility.
- Clinical/technical skills; rapidly adopt and use digital technology and record medical interactions.
- Operate company car; travel 60–80% by airplane; currently reside in MA, ME, VT, NH, or CT.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with internal/external SOPs/rules/regulations for Pfizer/customer interactions.
- Previous Field Medical experience.
Required Work/Environment
- Remote–field based; flexibility for weekend work; reasonable proximity to an airline hub city.
