Primary Responsibilities
- Execute and promote products in alignment with sales strategy in the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with the District Sales Manager on day-to-day sales and strategy related to product promotion.
- Analyze the local market; develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize appropriate product use in the territory.
- Maintain current knowledge of products, disease, competition, and market reimbursement.
- Determine, implement, and monitor optimal resource allocation (e.g., budgets, time) within the territory.
- Use advanced selling and negotiation skills to communicate relevant information to target audiences.
- Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels.
- Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems as needed.
- Manage travel and promotional budget.
- Complete required monitoring and reporting (expenses and call reporting) using approved systems.
- Maintain full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Vanda policies.
- Meet industry-standard credentialing requirements of healthcare providers, customer facilities, and state/local governments.
- Complete additional ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications / Requirements
- BS or BA with GPA greater than 3.0.
- Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience preferred (may be considered for an “Associate” role if not met).
- Ability to travel (may include overnights) and to attend out-of-territory HQ/training/sales meetings.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history; must reside within territory geography.

Preferred
- Atypical anti-psychotic and/or orphan drug experience.
- Specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management.
- Reimbursement experience.
- Existing relationships (or within 24 months) with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in the territory.
- Self-starter with proven track record; “hunter” mentality; strong territory relationships and knowledge.
