Job Summary:
National Account Manager (NAM) develops and executes strategic account plans to optimize access, sales, and outcomes for Akebiaโs approved product by building partnerships with dialysis organizations (LDOs/MDOs), Nephrology Large Group Practices (LGPs), and Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs). Connects Akebiaโs National Account strategies to key customers and aligns clinical, economic, and operational value propositions with National Account Directors and Medical Affairs.
Primary Region:
Northern California (San Francisco, Fresno, Oakland/Fremont, Sacramento). Travel up to 50% within the U.S.
Essential Functions & Duties:
- Develop and execute national/regional account strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Drive initiatives to secure/expand Vafseo access and support account adoption.
- Lead strategic business planning and quarterly business reviews.
- Develop programs with LDO/MDO RVPs/Area Directors/RQMs and LGPs.
- Support Regional Medical Director and physician programs.
- Communicate clinical, business, and health economic data.
- Maintain customer profiles/affiliations, meet MBO metrics, and communicate organizational changes.
- Work compliantly with Medical Affairs; analyze information and present insights to drive behavior change.
- Partner with Legal/Regulatory/Compliance on dialysis organization communications.
- Ensure HCP pull-through of DO/LGP-aligned initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required: BA/BS; 5+ yearsโ renal or similar therapeutic experience; proven account management.
Preferred: 10+ years biopharma; relationships with national dialysis customers/LGPs; strategic partnership-building; planning/organization; strong communications; advanced business planning/negotiation; compliance mindset; team selling; start-up environment; clinical/technical/scientific knowledge; renal reimbursement logistics knowledge; health economics + Medical Affairs integration; CMS TDAPA reimbursement knowledge a plus.
Compensation/Benefits (explicitly stated):
Targeted base salary: $178,664โ$220,703 USD. Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, and bonus/incentive/equity as applicable.
