Role: National Account Director responsible for developing and managing strategic relationships with government payers to secure formulary and coverage access for Arrowhead's first commercial therapy, Redemplo, and other pipeline products. Primary objectives include expanding payer access, influencing coverage decisions, and supporting launch and post-launch strategies across managed Medicaid, Medicare, VA, DoD/TRICARE, Indian Health Service, and commercial plans.
Responsibilities: Build and strengthen relationships with key government accounts; communicate clinical and economic value; create comprehensive account plans; lead contract negotiations and evaluate performance metrics; collaborate with cross-functional teams (Sales, Medical, Commercial Analytics, Finance, Compliance); provide market intelligence on healthcare policies and payer trends; ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications: Bachelorβs degree; 10+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech, with deep experience in field-based market access or payer engagement; 5+ years of national account payer experience with established relationships across government payers; strong understanding of managed care processes, especially in rare disease and cardiometabolic areas; proven ability to influence cross-functionally and operate independently.
Preferred: Advanced degrees (MBA, MPH, PharmD). Experience with launching rare disease or cardiometabolic medicines desirable.
High-Value: Focus on government payer channels, managed markets, rare disease, late-stage development products, healthcare policy, and cross-functional collaboration. Location: Field-based with periodic travel to Pasadena, CA.
