National Account Director (Government Payers)

Responsibilities:
- Strengthen relationships with key government accounts (Managed Medicaid, Fee-for-Service Medicaid, VA, DoD/TRICARE, Indian Health Service, Humana Medicare)
- Communicate product clinical and economic value to payers and key decision-makers
- Create and maintain comprehensive account plans supporting launch and post-launch strategies
- Lead contract negotiations, evaluate performance metrics, and ensure organizational alignment
- Develop organizational structure and capabilities for payer engagement across the U.S. portfolio
- Monitor sales implications for each payer negotiation and take action to optimize access
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Medical Affairs, Commercial Analytics, Finance, and Compliance to address access challenges
- Provide market intelligence on payer trends, coverage determinations, and healthcare policy changes
- Present payer policy insights at internal reviews, national conferences, and sales meetings
- Ensure compliance with U.S. healthcare regulations, legal standards, and corporate policies
Requirements:
- Bachelorβs degree
- 12+ years pharmaceutical/biotech experience in field-based market access, payer engagement, or managed markets
- 5+ years national account payer experience with deep-rooted relationships across government channels (Managed Medicaid, Fee-for-Service Medicaid, VA, DoD/TRICARE, Indian Health Service, Humana Medicare)
- Strong understanding of commercial and Medicare Part D managed care processes
- Prior rare disease/cardiometabolic launch experience (highly desired)
- Experience managing national and local contracting initiatives in managed care organizations
- Ability to drive results and influence cross-functionally without direct authority
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to translate complex scientific and economic data into payer-relevant insights
- Self-motivated, collaborative, strategically independent
- Travel up to 50%

- Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PharmD)
