The MSL Team Lead (Reporting to the Vice President, Global Medical Affairs Strategy and Field) is responsible for developing the vision, strategy, and tactical plans for the regional MSL team, including resource and budget plans, ongoing development/refinement of the regional team, and collaboration with the VP and regional MSL Lead counterpart. Demonstrates ability to conduct scientific discourse with subject matter experts and key thought leaders in neurology/neuromuscular and/or rare diseases; provides leadership directing KOL-driven activities. Contributes to MSL training, MSL process/policy, and thought leader strategy development.
Responsibilities:
- Oversees regional MSL team; develops/coaches field medical tactics aligned to GMA strategy; ensures scientific excellence; fosters KOL relationships
- Participates in cross-functional teams to identify/communicate data gaps, support data generation and communication strategies, and contribute to Medical Strategy Plans
- Leads and executes autonomously; sets goals, delegates, and consistently delivers
- People management across the region: strategic guidance, alignment on goals, training/motivation/influence, and direct reportsβ career development
- Ensures field team has appropriate medical/scientific information and tools for information exchange
- Provides customer-oriented insights to internal stakeholders and enables pull-through of actions
- Attends/supports scientific meetings; represents company in presentations/panels as appropriate
- Develops/implements initiatives to maximize effectiveness while maintaining key priorities; provides proactive KPI status reports
- Ensures compliance with industry/regulatory guidelines and completion of administrative tasks (e.g., Veeva, Concur, KOL tracking, conference coverage, expense reports)
Qualifications/Skills:
- Graduate degree required (MD, PhD, PharmD, NP/PA, DPT, MSN)
- 12β15+ years professional experience; 5β7+ years field medical experience
- Proven autonomous, results-oriented leadership; advanced therapeutic/product/competitive knowledge
- Decisive, action-oriented; manages multiple tasks and deadlines
- Strong people-management skills; leads/collaborates cross-functionally
- Ability to convey complex concepts; excellent presenter/influencer/communicator
