Medical Affairs
Medical Science Liaison develops and maintains professional relationships with internal/external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support in assigned therapeutic areas. Facilitates medical information, education, and research activities for physicians and healthcare professionals regarding current and future AbbVie therapies. Works with AbbVie personnel to ensure information/education/research needs are met and to identify/fulfill scientific and technical training needs of commercial organizations.
Responsible for maintaining annual expenses within assigned budget parameters.
Responsible for accurate and timely documentation of activities.
You Will
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers.
- Present AbbVie product data upon request to healthcare professionals.
- Support research initiatives with R&D, Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs.
- Serve as internal medical/scientific resource for disease-state and product communications/materials consistent with regulatory guidelines.
- Support Round Table and Advisory Board sessions.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel.
- May support payer-facing activities.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, APP); doctorate strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years industry experience; minimum 4 years post-degree practice or relevant transferable experience.
- Psychiatry experience highly preferred; Previous MSL experience required.
- Problem solving/analytic skills; ability to translate territory/corporate needs into action.
- Proficiency: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Ability to learn/apply scientific storytelling, identifying mobilizers, active listening.
- Must meet HCIR credentialing requirements (e.g., background checks, drug screens, immunization proof).
- Ability to convey clinical/non-clinical technical information; engage audiences.
- Travel up to 75%.
- Live in territory (Boston, MA) or willing to self-relocate within territory.
