Medical Affairs
The MSL/Senior MSL:
- Field-based scientific expert supporting research and business objectives for a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle within a specific geography/territory.
- Primary communicator of AbbVie science with healthcare professionals; peer scientific expert in the designated therapeutic area/product.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal/external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support.
Responsibilities:
- Identify/develop relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers to access current medical/scientific information.
- Present scientific/educational information on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products to HCPs.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation, recruitment, investigator meetings, external collaboration management).
- Build marketplace awareness and relationships in new therapeutic areas.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners and in-field commercial teams; develop/execute account plans; serve as a scientific resource.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions; address clinically related medical information.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and internal personnel.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies and maintain accurate documentation; manage annual expenses within budget.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, or APP); doctorate strongly preferred.
- Senior MSL: 3+ years relevant experience; MSL: 0–2 years.
- Proficiency: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation/teaching, planning/organizational skills; ability to work independently and adapt.
- Meet HCIR credentialing requirements for facility access.
- Ability to learn/convey technical clinical info and engage audiences.
- Travel up to 75%.
Territory requirement:
- Live in (or self-relocate within) Minnesota, Wisconsin, North & South Dakota.
