Medical Affairs
The MSL/Senior MSL:
- A field-based scientific expert strategically supporting research and business objectives of a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle for a specific geography/territory.
- Primary communicator of AbbVie science within a specific geography with healthcare professionals.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support.
- Peer scientific expert in a designated therapeutic area/product.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers to access current medical/scientific information.
- Present disease-state and therapeutic-landscape education and AbbVie product information across the product lifecycle.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, external collaboration management).
- Prepare the marketplace in new therapeutic areas by building awareness and relationships in the medical community.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional partners and in-field commercial teams; execute account plans supporting shared business objectives.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address other clinically related medical information.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel.
- Practice strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies; maintain accurate/timely HCP interaction documentation; manage annual expenses within budget.

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, APP such as Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner in a relevant discipline). Doctorate strongly preferred.
- Senior MSL: typically 3+ years relevant experience; MSL: typically 0–2 years relevant experience.
- Ability to analyze/translate territory and corporate needs to meet business/clinical objectives.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other software; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and teaching skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
- Must meet HCIR credentialing requirements (e.g., background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof).
- Ability to convey clinical/non-clinical technical information; engage and help audiences retain information.
- Willing to travel up to 75%.

Location requirement:
- Candidate must live in territory or be willing to self-relocate to Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
