Medical Affairs
The MSL/Senior MSL:
- Field-based scientific expert supporting research and business objectives for a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle for a specific geography/territory.
- Primary communicator of AbbVie science within a specific geography with healthcare professionals.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support.
- Peer scientific expert in a designated therapeutic area/product.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers to access current medical/scientific information.
- Present scientific information and education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, external collaboration management).
- Prepare marketplace in new therapeutic areas by creating awareness and relationships.
- Build and collaborate on internal cross-functional partnerships; work with in-field commercial teams to develop/account plans meeting shared business objectives; serve as scientific resource.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address clinically related medical information issues.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies and maintain accurate, timely HCP interaction documentation; manage annual expenses within assigned budget.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, APP); doctorate strongly preferred.
- Senior MSL: 3+ years relevant experience; MSL: 0β2 years.
- Prefer experience in Endocrinology/Metabolic/obesity or Gastroenterology.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation/teaching, planning/organizational, and teamwork/leadership skills; ability to work independently and adapt to new structures.
- Meet HCIR credentialing requirements (may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof).
- Ability to learn and convey technical clinical/non-clinical information; engage audiences.
- Travel up to 75%.
- Must live in territory or self-relocate within Texas (Dallas, Houston, Austin).
