Medical Affairs
The MSL/Senior MSL:
- Field-based scientific expert who strategically supports research and business objectives for a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle within a specific geography/territory.
- Primary communicator of AbbVie science within the assigned geography with healthcare professionals.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support.
- Peer scientific expert in a designated therapeutic area/product.

Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers to access current medical/scientific information.
- Present scientific/educational information on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, external collaboration management).
- Prepare the marketplace in new therapeutic areas (awareness and relationship building).
- Create/maintain internal cross-functional relationships; collaborate with in-field commercial teams; execute account plans to meet shared business objectives; serve as a scientific resource.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address clinically related medical information issues.
- Provide ongoing training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel as directed.
- Practice strategic segmentation and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies and procedures; maintain accurate/timely HCP interaction documentation; maintain annual expenses within budget.

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, or APP in relevant discipline). Doctorate strongly preferred.
- Senior MSL: 3+ years relevant experience. MSL: 0–2 years relevant experience.
- Preferable: experience in Endocrinology/Metabolic/obesity or Gastroenterology.
- Proficiency: Excel, Word, PowerPoint; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, teaching, planning/organization skills; ability to work independently and adjust to new processes/structures.
- Meet HCIR credentialing requirements (e.g., background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof).
- Ability to convey technical information and engage audiences.
- Travel up to 75%.
- Must live in territory or be willing to self-relocate within Texas (Dallas, Houston, Austin).
