The MSL/Senior MSL (MSLs) is a field-based scientific expert that supports Hematology/Oncology scientific and business objectives across the product life cycle. MSLs are primary communicators of AbbVie science within a specific geography to healthcare professionals, serving as disease-state and treatment-option experts. This is an individual contributor role.
Responsibilities
- Develop, execute, and maintain high-impact territory plans, including HCP and Investigator engagement plans aligned with Hematology/Oncology objectives; use data/analytics to find and maximize opportunities.
- Identify, access, and develop customer-centric relationships with external experts in assigned geography.
- Deliver territory plan objectives, meet project deadlines, achieve annual functional goals; generate and document meaningful data point observations (DPOs).
- Practice core capabilities in segmentation, DPOs, and optimal resource utilization.
- Ensure compliance with applicable corporate/divisional policies and accurate, timely documentation for HCP interactions.
- Provide education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle.
- Stay current on market issues/trends and product knowledge; build awareness and relationships in the medical community.
- Support R&D research initiatives (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, external collaboration management).
- Maintain cross-functional field partnerships (including in-field commercial teams, site management/monitoring and clinical research associates, Therapeutic Area, HEOR, and Medical Outcome Science Liaisons) and support account plans.
Territory: Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Alaska
Qualifications
- Advanced degree preferred (Doctorate strongly preferred) in a relevant scientific/health or clinical discipline; significant clinical/industry experience may substitute.
- 2+ years clinical, scientific/research, or industry-related experience preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytic skills.
- Leadership attributes aligned with company initiatives.
- Ability to learn and apply scientific storytelling, identifying mobilizers, powerful questions, and active listening.
- Meet HCIR credentialing requirements (e.g., background checks, drug screens, proof of immunization/vaccination).
- Willing to travel up to 75%.
Additional requirement: Candidate must live in the territory or be willing to self-relocate within the territory.
