The MSL/Senior MSL is a field-based scientific expert that strategically supports research and business objectives for a designated therapeutic area across the product life cycle for a specific geography/territory.
Primary communicator of AbbVie science with healthcare professionals within the territory.
Develops and maintains professional relationships with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive medical and scientific support.
Serves as a peer scientific expert and a conduit of information, education, and research for physicians and ancillary healthcare professionals regarding current and future AbbVie therapies.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and maintain relationships with thought leaders, academic centers, and researchers.
- Present scientific information and education on disease state, therapeutic landscape, and AbbVie products across the product lifecycle.
- Support research initiatives and physician-initiated projects (e.g., site evaluation/identification, recruitment, investigator meetings, external expert identification, and collaboration management).
- Prepare marketplace in new therapeutic areas by creating awareness and relationships in the medical community.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and in-field commercial teams; execute account plans aligned to shared business objectives.
- Answer unsolicited medical questions and address clinically related medical information.
- Provide on-going training to medical affairs, field sales, and other internal personnel.
- Ensure compliance with corporate/divisional policies for HCP interactions; maintain accurate and timely documentation; manage annual expenses within budget.
- Live in or self-relocate within territory (Miami, Florida).
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree required (PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, APP such as Physician Associate or Nurse Practitioner) in a relevant scientific discipline; doctorate strongly preferred.
- Typically 2+ years relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint; excellent written/verbal communication.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and teaching skills; independent and team-oriented; strong planning/organizational skills.
- Meet HCIR credentialing requirements (may include background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof).
- Ability to learn and convey clinical and technical information; engage audiences.
- Willing to travel up to 75%.
