Role: Medical Science Liaison (MSL) (Field-based)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Build awareness and develop strategic KOL/territory engagement plans aligned with medical strategy
- Support clinical research (investigator-initiated and company-sponsored), speaker development, and training as needed
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of company, investigational products, and current medical research
- Maximize attendance at national and regional conferences to gather insights, assess competitive landscape, and strengthen relationships
- Collaborate cross-functionally (clinical, regulatory, market access) to advance business and scientific goals
- Develop and execute regional medical strategies
- Lead KOL engagement strategies and identify new scientific leaders
- Lead mapping of key KOLs and drive engagement strategies
- Provide strategic peer leadership within the MSL team (motivator, problem solver)
- Manage top-tier KOL relationships and synthesize medical insights to inform medical strategies
- Mentor junior MSLs and contribute to team strategy development
- Serve as subject matter expert for internal stakeholders (marketing, sales, clinical)
- Maintain a customer-centric, compliant approach with internal teams (HEOR, access, marketing, sales)
- Establish and develop HCP relationships via data discussions, clinical trials, and patient-journey barrier support
- Respond to unsolicited information requests timely, accurately, and compliantly
- Ensure compliant dissemination of scientific/clinical information to HCPs
- Manage administrative tasks (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules)
Education/Experience/Requirements:
- Advanced scientific degree or equivalent required (MD, PhD, NP, PharmD, PA)
- 10+ years of MSL experience preferred
- Clinical experience in neuromuscular disorders (DMD, DM1) preferred; rare disease experience considered
Required/Preferred Skills:
- Strong knowledge of investigational products and neuromuscular space (including emerging data)
- In-depth understanding of clinical trials and investigator-sponsored study processes
- Proven ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; clear understanding of MSL role
- Ability to build/maintain KOL relationships, communicate clearly to diverse audiences, and influence without authority
- Strong planning/prioritization, independent home-office time management, adaptability
- Willingness to travel extensively and occasionally on weekends
Pay Range:
- $183,000–$250,000 USD
