Role Summary

Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at Acadia Pharmaceuticals focusing on neuroscience, building relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare providers, and research centers to drive scientific exchange and support clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and develops relationships with national and regional medical and scientific thought leaders, patient advocacy groups, and centers of excellence aligned with Medical Affairs and Development goals.
  • Engages thought leaders to align interests, discuss research and medical information, and participate in scientific exchange and education on current and emerging therapies.
  • Provides Phase 2 / 3b / 4 trial site support and investigator-initiated research proposal cultivation and facilitation.
  • Develops and maintains scientific, clinical, and therapeutic expertise for Acadiaβ€šΓ„Γ΄s portfolio.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with regional field leadership and other partners while adhering to compliance guidelines.
  • Provides strategic field insights and identifies disease concepts and compound characteristics for product differentiation.
  • Offers scientific, clinical, and educational support for internal and external clients.
  • Represents the company at continuing education events, programs, medical meetings, and conventions.
  • Supports Commercial operations by participating in Speaker and Sales Representative Training.
  • Partners with internal departments to ensure accurate delivery of medical and scientific information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • PharmD, PhD, MD/DO or DNP in a related field required.
  • Targeting 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the biopharmaceutical industry; previous MSL experience desired.
  • Psychiatry or neurology experience strongly preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.

Skills

  • Scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise.
  • Knowledge of regulatory, compliance, commercial, and clinical issues in pharma and managed care.
  • Poised and knowledgeable presenter of scientific information with strong writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience in preparing materials for Medical Affairs, including reviewing/editing Promotional materials.
  • Knowledge of customer segments and market dynamics.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and collaboration skills; ability to interact with all levels.
  • Negotiation and influence skills; ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Initiative, follow-through, and excellent oral and written communication.
  • Drug information communication expertise.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of time, with residence near a major airport or within the geographic area.

Education

  • PharmD, PhD, MD/DO or DNP in a related field.
