Position Medical Science Liaison (MSL), Rheumatology (Field - IL, MI, N. Indiana)
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with academic/community thought leaders, appropriate HCPs, and access stakeholders to answer scientific, unsolicited product, and HEOR questions.
- Use multiple interaction channels (1:1, group presentations, remote) and demonstrate proficiency with scientific resources/presentations.
- Present information and respond to questions with medical accuracy and compliance with local procedures, ethical/legal guidelines.
- Assess the medical landscape by meeting with TL/HCPs/access stakeholders.
- Continuously update knowledge in treatment strategies, products, unmet needs, clinical trials, HEOR, and related scientific activities.
- Understand the competitive landscape and evolving healthcare models to address customer informational needs.
- Identify partnership opportunities with HCPs (disease initiatives, collaborative research, ISR) aligned with BMS objectives.
- Attend medical congresses and local/regional meetings.
- Collect and communicate medical insights to support strategy and business decisions.
Medical Plan / Support:
- Build geography-specific Field Medical and TL Interaction plans; contribute to cross-functional institution/account plans.
- Deliver scientifically meaningful medical programs/projects.
- Collaborate with cross-matrix field teams; support training and provide scientific updates to internal stakeholders.
- Provide scientific support at promotional meetings.
Clinical Trial Activities:
- Support interventional and non-interventional research (e.g., identify/assess study sites) for patient recruitment and safe/effective use discussions.
- Provide feasibility recommendations to clinical development; support ISR submissions/execution/follow-up.
- Apply pharmacovigilance documents; alert appropriate personnel to adverse events.
- Support CRO-sponsored studies.
Position Requirements:
- MD, PharmD, PhD, APP, PA, or NP with experience in a specific disease area or broad medical background and relevant pharmaceutical experience.
- Disease area knowledge; understanding of scientific publications; clinical trial design/process knowledge.
- Knowledge of competitive landscape, patient treatment trends, national healthcare/access environment, and HEOR core concepts.
- Excellent English (spoken/written).
Experience Desired:
- 2+ years clinical and/or pharmaceutical environment; prior MSL experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently; translate clinical/scientific data; strong communication/presentation and peer-to-peer relationship building.
- Ability to quickly learn new subject areas; demonstrate BMS values.
Essential Qualification / Travel:
- Must be able to drive a company-provided car and drive between locations responsibly.
- Travel required; field-based; live in territory managed or within 50 miles of territory borders; majority of time in the field.
