Medical Science Liaison, Rare Disease—GPA/MPA & Sjogren’s Disease
Territory: San Francisco Bay Area and northern Nevada
Responsibilities (What You Will Do):
- Serve as primary scientific/clinical resource to Opinion Leaders (OLs), Population Health Decision Makers (PHDMs), and other healthcare providers.
- Conduct majority of time on peer-to-peer scientific exchange with OLs, community HCPs, and PHDMs to advance the disease/clinical platform aligned with Amgen goals.
- Engage PHDMs within assigned IDNs and other institutions to communicate clinical, outcomes, and economic data.
- Connect external and internal stakeholders to expand patient reach and access.
- Provide in-depth, balanced clinical/scientific information consistent with MSL compliance standards.
- Support Amgen sponsored research and liaise with potential investigators for non-sponsored clinical research.
- Provide field observations/insights to internal stakeholders to inform strategy.
- Support congress activities and speaker training; ensure speakers are updated on new data.
- Participate on project teams supporting MSL strategies/tactics as delegated.
- Compliantly partner across Amgen field roles to deliver a coordinated “One Amgen” experience.
Core Competencies:
- Drive action to improve patient care and close care gaps.
- Complete administrative responsibilities and training (e.g., Veeva CRM, expense reports, compliance modules) on time.
- Maintain and improve clinical/scientific acumen using current data and healthcare trends.
- Build strong relationships and communicate scientific data effectively.
Basic Qualifications:
- Doctorate degree; OR Master’s degree + 3 years Medical Affairs experience; OR Bachelor’s degree + 5 years Medical Affairs experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O. (other doctoral degrees considered).
- 5+ years in a medically related field, including 1 year focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research (post-doctoral training counts).
- Rare Disease-GPA/MPA and/or Sjogren’s Disease expertise.
