Brief Description
- The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a member of a field-based team extending US Medical Affairs. Responsibilities include developing professional relationships with medical thought leaders, providing medical information via scientific exchange, and delivering clinical/scientific support.
- Field-based role covering Northern California, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, and Montana.

Essential Functions
- KOL Development and Field Engagement:
- Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs and healthcare providers.
- Develop and execute territory plans aligned with US Medical Affairs.
- Identify and communicate key clinical/research issues from KOLs to appropriate departments.
- Participate in medical education via on-site presentations, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, and regional meetings.
- Provide scientific support for medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives.
- Positions self as Scientific Expert:
- Maintain up-to-date therapy area/product knowledge and competitive landscape awareness.
- Establish reputation as a trusted scientific/medical information source.
- Provide clinical presentations and information in response to questions (as appropriate) in group and 1:1 settings.
- Communicate emerging data and product clinical experience objectively.
- Support data generation activities (company-sponsored studies, collaborations, ISTs).
- Medical Affairs Planning and Plan Execution:
- Contribute to US Medical Plan and provide input into local strategies.
- Manage relevant budget (as needed).
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues for Key Account Management.
- Support Medical Plan activities (advisory boards, speaker development, clinical trials).
- Maintain Company standards and Jazz Values:
- Enhance Jazz image through meaningful scientific exchange.
- Document/forward adverse events and product complaints per policy.
- Adhere to national/local Codes of Practice; act ethically and with integrity.
- Keep written development plan; prepare timely reporting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Research/critically analyze and communicate complex scientific/medical information.
- Clear communication and presentation; strong planning/organization and attention to detail.
- Strategic mindset; self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Ability to learn quickly, be flexible, and deliver results in a changing environment.
- Negotiation skills; relationship-building/networking, collaboration, teamwork.
- Proficiency with digital platforms/tools.
- Excellent spoken English.
- Travel at least 60% of workdays; driving required.

Preferred
- Knowledge of geography and external experts; ability to develop trust with opinion leaders.
- Understanding regulatory requirements for field-based personnel.
- Oncology experience.
- Prior MSL experience with a strong track record.

Required/Preferred Education and Licenses
- Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) + 3+ years in therapeutic area.
- OR license (RN, NP, CNP, PA or equivalent) + master’s (or equivalent) + 5+ years clinical practice.
- 2+ years as an MSL or comparable industry/clinical role.
- Field role: willing to travel 60–70%.
- Valid driver’s license; live within 60 miles of a major airport.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
- Frequent travel between meeting sites; frequent use of computer/printer/phone.
- Frequent external interactions; laptop/tablet use; may require work outside normal hours; frequent public contact with business apparel.

Compensation/Benefits (US candidates)
- Base pay range: $160,000–$240,000.
- Eligible for discretionary annual cash bonus/incentive and discretionary equity (per plan/role).
- Benefits may include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), and flexible paid vacation.
