Role Responsibilities:
- Leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to build professional relationships and engage with HCPs and other thought leaders aligned to medical strategy.
- Serve as a non-promotional medical/scientific field resource; lead customer engagements including emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, patient journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical need, pipeline discussions, disease/product education, adverse event capture, and medical insights across the product lifecycle.
- Develop territory strategy: identify/map/plan Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts aligned to medical strategy; identify key stakeholders across the product development lifecycle to establish education, engagement, and partnership strategies.
- Identify partnership opportunities with academic centers, centers of excellence, and/or systems of care.
- Identify opportunities to involve HCPs/MEs when a medical need is identified (e.g., publications, clinical trial participation).
- Collaborate internally (e.g., HEOR, access, marketing, commercial, sales) to advance clinical practice with customer centricity and compliance.
- Support company-sponsored clinical trials; work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of therapeutic area, Novartis compounds, internal policies, and external regulations impacting day-to-day responsibilities.
- Complete administrative/training requirements (e.g., Veeva CRM, compliance modules, customer profiling).
- Drive personal/professional development as priorities evolve.

About the Role / Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in science or healthcare required; doctoral degree preferred (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD, etc.).
- Experience (by level):
- Manager: 0–3 years Field Medical/MSL required OR 3–5 years medical affairs/clinical research preferred.
- AD: 5–7 years medical affairs/clinical research required OR 3+ years preferred.
- Strong clinical knowledge (pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, medical expert engagement strategies) and FDA promotional/ethical guidelines.
- Must perform duties in accordance with applicable laws and Novartis policies; uphold ethics/compliance.
- Field-based Illinois territory (reside within territory or within ~50 miles of border); relocation not available.
- Travel and working hours set by hiring manager; role is ~60–70% travel.
- Initial training with home study required; must complete training within specified daily/weekly hours.
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license required (driving essential function).

Compensation/Benefits (explicit):
- Pay range at commencement: Manager $145,600–$270,400; AD $160,300–$297,700. Performance-based cash incentive; possible annual equity depending on level.
