Position Summary:
The Medical Science Liaison/Senior MSL is a field-based scientific expert and strategic partner within Medical Affairs. Responsible for regional scientific engagement with KOLs, academic medical centers, and healthcare professionals, driving advanced medical education, strategic insights to shape clinical development and medical strategy, and mentoring/training junior MSLs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Scientific exchange and education: Develop and maintain relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and academic institutions; provide balanced scientific information on products, disease states, and therapeutic areas; communicate with payors and formulary committees pre- and post-approval per FDA guidance.
- Strategic leadership and insights: Maintain expertise in disease states, emerging therapies, and healthcare trends; participate/lead project teams aligned with medical affairs strategy; lead advisory boards; gather and communicate field insights; identify emerging trends and unmet needs.
- Stakeholder engagement: Identify and engage key thought leaders and content experts across healthcare systems, payors, and key accounts.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Provide compliant scientific support for commercial functions (including speaker training); advise Clinical Research, Investor Relations, Business Development, and Corporate Communications.
- Research & data generation: Identify/facilitate research opportunities (collaborative, investigator-initiated, HEOR); support trial site identification and investigator engagement; participate in medical writing for abstracts and publications.
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Pharm.D., Ph.D., NP, PA, RN, MD, or equivalent) required.
- Medical Affairs experience or relevant therapeutic area; 3β5 years prior MSL experience preferred.
- Deep understanding of clinical research, ability to interpret scientific data.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills; ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
- Deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare system and medical affairs; KOL engagement and stakeholder management expertise.
This role requires up to 50% travel within the Northeast Region (CT, MA, ME, NH, NYC and surrounding areas, RI, VT) and reports to the National Director, Field Medical Affairs and MSL Team Lead.
