Medical Affairs
Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are part of a field-based US Medical Affairs team.
Essential Functions
- Identify and develop peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs and healthcare providers in hematology/oncology
- Develop and execute territory plans aligned with US Medical Affairs plans
- Identify and communicate key clinical/research issues and insights from KOLs to appropriate departments
- Participate in medical education for HCPs via on-site presentations, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, and regional meetings
- Support medical congress staffing and advisory boards
Scientific Expert
- Maintain up-to-date, high-level knowledge of the therapy area, Jazz products, emerging research, trends, and competitive landscape
- Establish reputation as a trustworthy source of scientific/medical information
- Attend appropriate scientific congresses to support KOL activities
- Understand local/national clinical practice protocols and disease management trends
- Provide clinical presentations and respond to unsolicited questions (as appropriate)
- Communicate emerging data and product clinical experience objectively (benefits/risks)
- Provide scientific support for congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training
Medical Affairs Planning
- Contribute input to development of the US Medical Plan and local strategies/tactics
- Where needed, manage relevant budget for Medical Plan execution
- Collaborate cross-functionally to support Key Account Management approach
- Interact with HCPs to support Medical Plan activities (advisory boards, speaker development, clinical trials)
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Research/critically analyze and communicate complex scientific/medical information
- Clear communication/presentation; strong planning/organization and attention to detail
- Strategic mindset; self-motivated/autonomous; flexible, results-focused
- Excellent negotiation; strong interpersonal relationship building
- Strong digital platform/tool capabilities; excellent spoken English
Preferred
- Knowledge of geography/healthcare environment and external academic/medical experts
- Ability to develop trust with opinion leaders; understanding of regulatory requirements for field-based personnel
Education/Licenses & Experience
- PharmD/MD/PhD (or equivalent) + 3+ years hematologic malignancies, OR RN/NP/CNP/PA (or equivalent) with Master’s (or equivalent) + 5+ years hematologic malignancies
- 2+ years as an MSL or comparable industry/clinical role (required)
- Field role: travel ~60%; valid driver’s license; live near a major airport
US Base Pay Range (base): $160,000–$240,000. Eligibility may include discretionary annual cash bonus/incentive, discretionary equity grants, and benefits (medical/dental/vision, 401k, flexible paid vacation).
