Brief Description
- Medical Science Liaison (MSL), field-based for New England. Develops professional relationships with medical thought leaders; provides medical information via scientific exchange and clinical/scientific support to Jazz and US Medical Affairs.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- KOL Development & Field Engagement: Build peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs/HCPs; develop and execute territory plans aligned with US Medical Affairs; identify and communicate key clinical/research insights to internal departments; present medical education for HCPs (on-site, meetings, conferences, advisory boards, regional meetings).
- Provide scientific support for medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training.
- Scientific Expert: Maintain expert knowledge of therapy area/products/research trends; serve as trustworthy scientific resource; support Jazz positioning as scientific authority; attend scientific congresses; present clinical info in group/1:1 settings; communicate emerging data objectively; support data generation (company-sponsored, collaborations, ISTs).
- Medical Affairs Planning: Contribute to US Medical Plan and local strategies; manage relevant budget when needed; collaborate cross-functionally for Key Account Management; support Medical Plan activities (advisory boards, speaker development, clinical trials).
- Maintain standards/values: Enhance medical advancement image; document adverse events/product complaints; adhere to Codes of Practice; act ethically/integrity; follow mission/values; maintain development plan; prepare timely reports.
Required
- Ability to research/analyze/communicate complex scientific/medical data; clear communication/presentation; strong planning/organization; strategic mindset; autonomous/self-motivated; adapt/flexible/results-focused; negotiation skills; relationship-building/networking/collaboration; strong digital tool capability; excellent spoken English.
- Travel 60%+ workdays (driving required).
Preferred
- Knowledge of healthcare environment/external experts; trust-building with opinion leaders; regulatory understanding for field personnel; oncology experience; prior successful MSL experience.
Qualifications / Licenses
- Advanced degree (PharmD/MD/PhD or equivalent) + 3+ years in relevant therapeutic area OR
- License (RN/NP/CNP/PA or equivalent) + Masterβs (or equivalent) + 5+ years clinical practice.
- 2+ years as an MSL or comparable industry/clinical role.
- Field role: willing to travel 60β70%; valid driverβs license; live within 60 miles of a major airport.
