Medical Science Liaison (MSL)

Key Responsibilities:
- Use scientific expertise and market knowledge to build relationships and engage in-depth with HCPs (community physicians, pharmacists, medical experts, nurses, etc.) and other thought leaders aligned to medical strategy.
- Engage customers through emerging data discussions, clinical trial activities, unmet need discovery, pipeline discussions, disease state/product education, adverse event capture, and capturing medical insights across the product lifecycle.
- Develop a strategic territory vision: identify/map/plan Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts in collaboration with internal teams.
- Identify key stakeholders across the product lifecycle; partner opportunities with academic centers/centers of excellence/systems of care; opportunities to involve HCPs/MEs (e.g., publications, trial participation); and internal collaboration opportunities.
- Provide clinical trial support for company-sponsored trials and work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs and Clinical Operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams (HEOR, access, marketing, commercial, sales) to advance clinical practice with customer centricity.
- Maintain deep knowledge of the therapeutic area/Novartis compounds, internal policies, and external regulations; execute required administrative/training activities (e.g., Veeva CRM, compliance modules).
- Drive personal/professional development; champion evolving priorities.

Essential Requirements:
- Graduate degree in science/healthcare required; doctoral preferred (MD/PhD/DNP/PharmD).
- Strong clinical knowledge (pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, clinical research processes, medical expert engagement) and FDA promotional/regulatory/ethical guidelines.
- Perform duties per applicable law and Novartis policies; ensure adherence to Ethics/Compliance/Promotional policies and foster a diverse, harassment-free environment.
- Reside within territory or within 50 miles commuting distance; valid driver’s license; ~60–70% travel.
- Manager level: 0–3 years field medical/MSL OR 3–5 years relevant medical affairs/clinical research.
- Associate Director level: 3+ years field medical/MSL preferred OR 5–7 years relevant medical affairs/clinical research.

Desirable:
- Prior experience in assigned/related therapeutic area.

Driving:
- Driving is essential; must have a fully valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Benefits/Compensation (as stated):
- Pay range: Manager $145,600–$270,400; Associate Director $160,300–$297,700; performance-based incentive; possible annual equity eligibility; comprehensive benefits and time off package.
