Medical Director / Scientific Director, Medical Affairs, Precision Medicine (Oncology)
Location/Work model: Mettawa, IL headquarters; hybrid schedule (3 days/week in office).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive, U.S.-focused medical strategy for CDx-dependent indications, overseeing execution of key deliverables.
- Develop and implement Medical Affairs strategy for upcoming CDx launches.
- Build and maintain external relationships with diagnostic partners, academic/community labs, and reference labs.
- Cultivate relationships with expert pathologists and key opinion leaders; partner with pathology societies.
- Represent Medical Affairs in cross-functional Oncology Precision Medicine teams.
- Serve as medical affairs lead on the Integrated Brand team and Medical Affairs team.
- Develop and execute biomarker and CDx evidence generation plans with Precision Medicine Development, HEOR, and Therapeutic Area teams.
- Execute CDx-aligned deliverables: evidence generation for biomarker/testing gaps; medical review of scientific publications; internal/external education on biomarkers/testing; review of promotional materials; collaborate on guideline strategies; insight generation via advisory boards/engagements; develop/execute congress strategy for pathologists and support oncology congresses with biomarker/testing materials.
Qualifications:
- Scientific Director: BS (sciences); PhD/PharmD/PA/NP preferred; residency or post-doctorate preferred; 5–7+ years in diagnostic or pharmaceutical industry (or equivalent) with substantial oncology/precision medicine understanding.
- Medical Director: MD (or equivalent D.O./non-US MD) required; relevant academic/hospital specialty preferred; residency/fellowship completion preferred; 0–2+ years in diagnostic or pharmaceutical industry (or equivalent).
Experience/Skills:
- Strong leadership; influence without authority; prioritization, coaching/mentoring, conflict resolution.
- Companion/complementary diagnostics experience (ideally oncology); experience with testing landscape stakeholders.
- Desirable: Medical Affairs experience in diagnostic company/reference lab or pharma.
- Demonstrated publication record and/or leading evidence generation projects.
- Excellent verbal/written communication with emphasis on medical communication.
