Role Summary

Medical Account Associate Director - Northwest leads clinical engagement efforts and develops/implements medical account strategies for identified strategic and priority Managed Markets accounts. Serves as the primary Medical Affairs contact to key payers, providing evidence-based scientific information to executive decision makers, thought leaders, and business influencers. Builds and maintains strong clinical relationships with C-suite, Pharmacy Directors, Medical Directors, and other key decision makers within strategic and priority Managed Markets accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative Duties: Provide monthly reports on scientific leadership activities to Field Director, record activities in Veeva CRM and expenses in Concur, and manage strategic national/regional budgets.
  • Advocacy & Professional Relationship Development: Serve as a scientific resource for HCPs and NNI employees; attend and present at medical/scientific meetings; build relationships with key Managed Care Customers; respond to unsolicited questions; combine account management with scientific expertise to create value; maintain relationships with health care providers and formulary influencers; establish medical account strategy and cultivate collaboration opportunities; gather customer insights to inform medical and commercial decisions; maintain advanced knowledge of NNI and its products and related publications; manage product and scientific updates with strong presentation skills; participate in regional and national projects; adhere to legal/regulatory guidelines.

Coordination Of Educational Programs

  • Assist Director with planning and delivering presentations for MM POA meetings; educate Managed Care Account Executives on product knowledge and technical information; facilitate development of Managed Care Symposia and education for health care providers; provide leadership, mentorship, and training to regional medical liaisons and the field medical affairs organization in Managed Markets, IHNs, and HEOR as needed.

Field-Based Clinical Support

  • Communicate clinical account strategies to NNI senior leadership and core medical teams; develop and maintain clinical relationships with key C-suite, medical directors, pharmacy directors, and other influencers; develop and present product and advanced scientific updates for formulary presentations; lead clinical engagement efforts at key MM accounts; drive MM strategy in alignment with Medical and Brand strategy; manage potential pharmacoeconomic and Managed Care-initiated studies; coordinate with Marketing, MM, HEOR and other FMA teams to optimize NNIs products; provide advanced scientific leadership for marketed products and development projects within MM accounts (diabetes focus); support advisory board activities; coordinate medical support needs with Senior Management of Managed Markets and Health Economics.

Insurance Reimbursement & Coverage Projects

  • Design, develop, and deliver advanced scientific presentations for strategic stakeholders; deliver advanced formulary presentations; develop, maintain, and execute medical account plans; identify, develop, and implement projects aligning clinical decision makers with NNI interests.

Physical Requirements

  • 50-75% overnight travel; territory includes WA, OR, AK, ID, MT, WY, SD, ND; field based; candidate must reside within territory or nearby; valid driverβ€šΓ„Γ΄s license in good standing.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years in health-related system, pharmaceutical, or managed care environment; at least 3 years in field medical liaison or Managed Care; internship/residency may count; advanced degree may substitute.
  • PharmD or other Doctoral degree with advanced licensure (e.g., MD, PhD; NP, RPh) required.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical development/operations, FDA requirements, health economics, and value-based discussions with MM customers; thorough understanding of formulary processes; cross-functional teamwork; deep understanding of US healthcare system, payers, and integrated health systems.
  • Proven ability to engage key MM customers, leadership, initiative, project management, relationship development, analytical/problem solving, and strong communication skills.
  • Flexibility in technical expertise across disease areas preferred; experience in account management or project management preferred; expertise across multiple disease areas preferred; knowledge of information/tech systems and strong Excel/Word/PowerPoint skills preferred; managed markets experience and health economics/HEOR experience preferred.
