Role Summary
Manufacturing, Engineering and Contracting (ME&C) Strategy Director & Chief of Staff role within Global Operations. Directly supports the Senior Vice President of ME&C, drives organizational development, executes strategic initiatives, and designs and implements processes and improvements. Supports the ME&C leadership team on special projects and collaborates with cross-functional partners to advance AbbVieโs strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Senior Vice President, ME&C, to help achieve enterprise goals for ME&C
- Lead cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives supporting achievement of key enterprise priorities
- Lead and support planning processes (Strategy, Financial Planning, organizational development, business processes)
- Provide dedicated support when large or complex assessments or diligence processes are active, acting as a bridge and integrator across functions
- Lead developing materials for the Senior VP, ME&C to enable executive leadership decision-making on strategic goals
- Lead developing materials for the Senior VP, ME&C for internal and external communication purposes in partnership with the communications team
- Provide support to ME&C leads for ongoing projects, processes and deliverables
- Translate overarching strategies into various tactical plans for ME&C that help achieve ME&C specific and shared enterprise goals
Qualifications
- Bachelorโs Degree required and advanced degree (Engineering, PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent) preferred
- Minimum years of industry experience: 10+, with experience driving large cross-functional initiatives/projects. Prior industry experience in manufacturing related, innovation-focused, and/or Strategy-related roles highly preferred
- MBA (or equivalent degree in related discipline) or strategic management consulting experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes for biologics, pharmaceutical, device and/or combination technologies; regulatory and commercialization process required
- Demonstrated ability to drive large cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment; foster team consensus-building and deliver timely results
- Strong communication skills to effectively communicate assessments, plans, strategies and recommendations to key stakeholders and executive audiences
- Analytical, critical thinking and interpersonal skills; persuasive writing and speaking; strong organizational skills; adaptability; resourcefulness; attention to detail; ability to work under deadlines and collaboratively
- Strong analytical skills to drive scientific/technical assessments and guide fact-based decision making
- Demonstrated ability to lead and act with an enterprise mindset
- Travel expected approximately 20%
