Position Details
- Manages and coordinates all Maintenance, Utility, Environmental, Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), and Utility Engineering activities for the Willow Island Plant in a safe, cost-efficient manner.
- Ensures plant reliability to manufacture products at a cost lower than competitors.
- Provides technical expertise and consultation.
- Organizes and directs assigned personnel.
- Ensures equipment reliability through proper utilization of equipment, the Maintenance Management System, technician expertise, and continuous improvement of preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Promotes sound labor relations management.
- Performs work to protect employee, plant, neighbor, customer, and environmental health and safety.
- Ensures uninterrupted utilities supply (steam, air, natural gas, WWTP, well water, tower water, refrigeration, electricity, potable water).
- Maintains a positive relationship with Syensqo to ensure efficient WWTP operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (continued)
- Promotes teamwork, continuous improvement, and total productive maintenance.
- Assists with preparation of work plans/schedules for Maintenance, Utility, and WWTP functions.
- Ensures WWTP and utility equipment are properly maintained and available.
- Makes major decisions on utility outages to avoid unsafe operations and equipment damage.
- Initiates projects, suggests equipment, and promotes high reliability.
- Prepares and manages annual maintenance, utility, WWTP, and environmental budgets.
- Ensures facility compliance with WWTP and environmental requirements related to manufacturing.
- Provides production areas with necessary utilities on a consistent basis.
- Promotes safety and housekeeping programs.
- Oversees justification, selection, training, and discipline of supervisory and operational personnel.
- Identifies maintenance work and maintains an effective backlog list.
- Provides supervisory assistance to coordinate and monitor operations.
Qualifications
- Strong management and effective leadership skills.

- Ability to prepare and present concise presentations to Management and Senior Leadership.
- Practical/decisive decision-making; critical reasoning.
- Understanding of budget formulation and management.
- Computer and software literacy.
- Understanding of Safety Management terminology; understanding of Wastewater Treatment Plant.
- Understanding of associated regulatory requirements.
- Strong understanding of OSHA 1910-119 PSM regulations (mechanical reliability and inspection).
- Strong understanding of ASME Code repair work.
- Strong understanding of utilities (process air, instrument air, chilled water, tower water, etc.).
- Strong understanding of maintenance/reliability, preventative and predictive maintenance, and mechanical/instrument work.
- Strong experience in capital execution to maintain a maintenance and utilities department.
Additional Skills/Requirements
- Language: ability to write operating procedures and PMs; write routine reports/correspondence; speak effectively with contractors, designers, consultants, employees, and senior leadership.
- Math: ability to compute with whole numbers, fractions, decimals; compute rates/ratios/percentages; draw/interpret bar graphs.
- Supervisory: works independently with responsibility for professional/engineering/support/maintenance/utilities personnel; budget responsibility for Maintenance, Engineering (Shared), Utilities, and WWTP (~$15,000,000).

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (preferably Chemical or Mechanical Engineering).
- Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Seven (7) years maintenance management experience (preferably utilities and maintenance related to chemical-based manufacturing).
- Five (5) years supervisory experience with responsibility for professional and non-professional employees.
Compensation
- $140,000.00–$170,000.00.
Work Schedule
- Monday–Friday (Standard work hours).
