Maintenance Supervisor
Scope of the Role
Safety, Quality, and Compliance
- Full accountability for team member safety, including proactive hazard identification and corrective action.
- Ensure strict adherence to cGMPs, FDA requirements, food safety, and quality standards.
- Maintain process parameters within established specifications; ensure product quality expectations and escalate if those cannot be met.
- Lead and support deviation investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Maintenance Leadership
- Lead manufacturing maintenance practices to achieve safety, quality, operational excellence, and people targets.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs and work instructions.
- Provide work direction and oversight across the department.
- Serve as the escalation point for maintenance issues.
- Coordinate activities across departments (Operations, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain).
People Leadership and Development
- Directly supervise maintenance personnel and team leader; provide coaching, feedback, and performance management.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of maintenance team members.
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement; communicate effectively and motivate/supervise.
Continuous Improvement and Projects
- Drive compliance with Perrigo Work Standards (PWS), optimizing preventive/predictive maintenance and reliability.
- Use root cause analysis to determine corrective actions for equipment failures.
- Lead/support maintenance improvement initiatives (productivity, efficiency, quality, cost reduction).
- Lead/co-lead site projects (equipment trials, process improvements, standardization).
- Support implementation of new processes, equipment, and systems.
- Identify and eliminate waste using Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience Required
- Associate Degree in Engineering (preferred/related) OR 4+ years leadership in maintenance; or 7–10 years plant maintenance with supervisory experience required.
- Hands-on experience as a working supervisor/foreman in an FDA-regulated facility.
- 3+ years in GMP-related Food/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing.
- Journeyman certification preferred and/or willing to participate in an Apprenticeship program.
- Beneficial: knowledge of contractual procedures, bidding documents, and purchasing.
- Experience maintaining/repairing processing, process utility, and building utility equipment (mechanical, plumbing, light electrical, instrumentation).
- Desired: experience with Programmable Logic Control-based control systems.
- Ability to read process flow diagrams and process/instrumentation/piping/mechanical/structural drawings.
- Computer skills (e.g., MS Office, Teams).
- Highly desirable: Asset Reliability and predictive maintenance methodologies/technologies.
- Must work effectively with a computerized maintenance management system; SAP experience is a major asset.
