General Summary:
The Associate Director, Kidney Training & Development is responsible for designing and leading capability-building initiatives supporting the Kidney business, including leadership development, organizational effectiveness, and field readiness. Serves as the primary training lead for the customer engagement liaison team, partnering with Commercial, Medical, Market Access, HR, Compliance, and other stakeholders.
Key Duties And Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage comprehensive training programs for Kidney BU Field teams (unbranded education, product launch readiness, product launch, continuous upskilling)
- Primary training lead for the customer engagement liaison team
- Advance leadership development and organizational effectiveness
- Drive capability-building initiatives
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Compliance to ensure alignment and accuracy of training content and delivery
- Develop compliant content and workshops on disease state, therapeutic rationale, and engagement model
- Collaborate with external vendors on instructional design, content development, and logistics
- Use adult learning principles to deliver engaging learning across modalities (live, virtual, digital, peer-led)
- Act as a strategic thought partner to BU/field leadership on learning needs and performance trends
- Manage training development process (vendor selection, contracts, budget, timelines)
- Ensure training adheres to legal/regulatory/medical guidance and Vertex standards
- Identify new approaches to improve effectiveness, scalability, and learner experience
Knowledge And Skills (Required/Preferred):
- Adult learning principles, training strategy, capability development
- Leadership development expertise
- Customer engagement model understanding
- Translate business strategy into learning solutions
- Facilitation/presentation/communication; stakeholder management and influence
- Cross-functional initiative leadership; manage competing priorities
- Data analysis for decision-making and continuous improvement
- Compliance considerations knowledge (pharma/biotech/healthcare)
Education And Experience:
- Bachelorโs degree required; Masterโs or MBA preferred
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/biotech experience; 3+ years in commercial training, field leadership, or L&D
- Leadership development program experience preferred
- Rare disease, nephrology, or immunology experience preferred
- Pre-launch/launch training design and facilitation for field sales/leadership audiences
- Develop scientific and skills-based content; collaborate across Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Compliance
- Communication skills; project management; vendor management/budget/contract oversight
- Motivate adult learners through facilitation/coaching; Microsoft Office, LMS, digital learning tools
- Domestic travel as needed
