Position Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for the promotion of approved products and defining the Company as a leader in ophthalmology by building long-term relationships with ophthalmic surgeons and relevant personnel at physician practices/clinics and ambulatory surgery center accounts. Executes clinical training and supports accounts with reimbursement processes to drive adoption and uptake.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve territory sales via quarterly/annual marketing strategies, including branded sales messages, in-surgery training, quarterly rebate communications (if applicable), and follow-up on medical educational programs; support reimbursement/market access including quarterly CMS drug reimbursable schedule.
- Develop product and disease state knowledge; educate healthcare professionals on clinical evidence, efficacy, and safety to support on-label prescribing.
- Conduct in-surgery training sessions.
- Maintain knowledge of market, demographic, and market-access information for the territory.
- Assist providers with reimbursement issues across core trade areas (primarily Medicare Part B, Medicare Advantage, Commercial Managed Care), plus Medicaid, VA (VISNs), TRICARE, specialty pharmacies/PBMs, ACOs/IDNs, and related systems.
- Set up and execute speaker programs and manage promotional budget.
- Attend local/regional meetings.
- Comply with laws/regulations and company privacy/data guidelines.
- Drive to customer offices/surgery centers (valid driverβs license) and travel as needed (including overnight/weekend).
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree.
- 3β5+ years selling in pharma/medical; experience in one or more: ophthalmology and/or injectable biologics (highly preferred), buy-and-bill, surgical products; reimbursement proficiency and comfort handling at the account level.
Preferred
- Total account call experience (hospitals/ASCs and office sites of care).
- Provider site reimbursement interactions (practice management/billing/revenue cycle).
- Reimbursement support hub, specialty pharmacy, practice management, launch experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Top performer; ophthalmology market understanding with surgeon relationships.
- Reimbursement technical knowledge (J codes, CPT codes, billing, appeals); buy-and-bill; private payer Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement systems.
- Teamwork with high emotional intelligence; self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented.

Salary Range
- $162,000 USD - $172,000 USD
