Position Summary
The Key Account Manager (KAM) promotes approved products and helps define the company as a leader within the ophthalmology community by developing and maintaining long-term relationships with ophthalmic surgeons and relevant personnel at physician practices/clinics and ambulatory surgery center accounts. Executes clinical training and supports accounts with reimbursement to position products for adoption and rapid uptake, including helping accounts understand and manage local payer reimbursement policies.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Achieve territory sales via quarterly/annual marketing strategies, branded sales messages, in-surgery training, rebate communications (if applicable), medical educational programs, and support for reimbursement/market access needs (including quarterly CMS drug reimbursable schedule).
- Develop product/disease state knowledge; educate healthcare professionals on clinical evidence, efficacy, and safety to support on-label prescribing.
- Conduct in-surgery training to ensure product use as directed.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of market/demographic/market access information in the assigned territory.
- Assist providers with reimbursement issues (primarily Medicare Part B, Medicare Advantage, and Commercial Managed Care), including Medicaid, VA (VISNs), TRICARE, Specialty Pharmacy & PBMs, ACOs/IDNs.
- Set up/execute speaker programs and manage related promotional budget; attend local/regional meetings.
- Comply with all laws, privacy/data guidelines, and applicable agreements (Sample Administration Agreements, PDMA Guidelines).
- Drive within the territory (valid driver’s license) and travel for work (including overnight/weekends).

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 3–5+ years of pharmaceutical/medical sales experience, including at least one: ophthalmology and/or injectable biologics (preferred), buy & bill, surgical products.
- Proficiency in reimbursement-related matters; able/willing to handle at the account level.

Preferred
- Experience with hospital/ASC and office site total account coverage.
- Provider site reimbursement interactions (practice management/billing/revenue cycle).
- Experience with reimbursement support hub, specialty pharmacies, practice management, and launch experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Top performer; strong ophthalmology market understanding and surgeon relationships.
- Technical reimbursement knowledge (J codes, CPT codes, billing/coding, appeals), buy-and-bill, and private payer Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement processes.
- Teamwork with high emotional intelligence; self-motivated with strong planning/organization and attention to detail.
