Role Summary
The Hospital Senior Account Manager supports and advances formulary access, protocol and order set readiness, discharge pathway support, and demand generation across targeted hospital accounts. Engages Infectious Disease physicians, hospitalists, pharmacists, case management/discharge teams, and key IDN decision makers as needed to drive sales.
Responsibilities
- Meet/exceed sales objectives via an integrated territory business plan.
- Manage hospital relationships with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to understand needs and priorities.
- Provide scientific/clinical information and deliver sales presentations using a customer engagement selling model.
- Secure and translate formulary wins and market access into consistent prescribing/utilization.
- Lead clinical discussions supporting patient identification, treatment selection, IV-to-oral transition, discharge readiness, and readmission reduction.
- Collaborate with nurse navigators, discharge planners, case managers, and specialty pharmacy partners to support access and therapy continuity.
- Identify/address barriers to product adoption (clinical, operational, behavioral, process).
- Optimize call coverage/frequency to key customers; meet call metrics.
- Deliver clinical brand presentations and conduct in-services/speaker programs and compliant scientific discussions.
- Analyze utilization trends and market dynamics to identify opportunities.
- Provide marketing feedback; support territory planning with Regional Sales Director and brand team.
- Manage territory budget; complete administrative tasks; maintain compliance and adherence to policies.
Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS from an accredited institution.
- Valid driverβs license.
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/medical/biotech industry experience.
- 3+ years calling on hospitals/health systems.
- Experience with hospital decision-making, clinical pathways, formulary management, and antimicrobial stewardship.
- Travel up to 50% (including overnight).
- Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds.

- Top-tier sales performance and product launch success.
- Demand generation success in hospitals.
- Anti-infective experience.
- Expertise in account selling/complex sales processes.
- Knowledge of health systems model and stakeholder decision processes (P&T, formulary).
- Experience engaging specialists (ID physicians, hospitalists, pharmacists, pharmacy leadership) and collaborating across care settings.
- Strong independent/team collaboration, data analysis for business planning, adaptability, regulatory/compliance adherence, and presentation/selling skills.
