The Hospital Senior Account Manager supports and advances formulary access, protocol and order set readiness, discharge pathway support, and demand generation across targeted hospital accounts. Role engages infectious disease physicians, hospitalists, pharmacists, case management teams, discharge planners, and IDN decision makers (e.g., CMO, Pharmacy Directors, P&T Committee members) to drive sales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Meet/exceed sales performance objectives by developing, implementing, and executing an integrated territory business plan.
- Manage hospital relationships; engage clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to understand customer needs.
- Provide scientific/clinical information and deliver sales presentations of approved products.
- Secure and translate formulary wins and market access achievements into consistent prescribing/utilization.
- Engage pharmacy/medical/operational stakeholders in clinical discussions (patient identification, treatment selection, IV-to-oral transition, discharge readiness, readmission reduction).
- Collaborate with nurse navigators, discharge planners, case managers, and specialty pharmacy partners.
- Identify and address barriers impacting product adoption (clinical, operational, behavioral, process-related).
- Deliver clinical brand presentations, conduct educational programs/in-services/speaker programs.
- Analyze utilization trends and market dynamics to identify opportunities.
- Provide feedback on marketing strategy and develop territory plans with support partners.
- Manage territory budget; complete administrative tasks; maintain compliance with policies.
Basic Qualifications:
- BA/BS from an accredited institution; valid driverβs license.
- 5+ years pharmaceutical/medical/biotech industry experience.
- 3+ years calling on hospitals/health systems.
- Experience with hospital decision-making, clinical pathways, formulary management, antimicrobial stewardship.
- Travel up to 50% (including overnight); lift/move up to 35 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Top-tier sales performance and proven product launch success; demand generation experience in hospitals.
- Anti-infective experience; expertise in account selling and complex sales processes.
- Deep Health Systems model knowledge; experience engaging specialist physicians/hospitalists/pharmacy leadership.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; analyze data to create business plans; adaptable; strong presentation/selling skills; compliance with regulatory/legal standards.
